Manassas, VA is 30 miles west of Washington, D.C. - a major tourist destination in 2012 because of the 150th Commemoration of the American Civil War.

Our five years of neighborhood revitalization projects, including two youth projects partnering with Group Cares, earned the City of Manassas and its community partners the prestigious President's Award from the Virginia Municipal League in 2011.

On May 5, 2012 we need your youthful energy, hard work and spirit to boost to our goal of restoring neighborhood pride to the Bristoe Station neighborhood, a 40-year-old community of 550 townhomes.  There are three worn playgrounds and a park with a small pavilion, but there are no picnic tables, only a few benches, and play equipment in need of repair.

We're counting on the Big Day of Serving Manassas to show residents that community isn't a thing of the past, when finances were better.  Evergreen Community Church, a congregation that meets at the Manassas Boys & Girls Club, and assists Bristoe Station with cleanups and events, is especially looking forward to being a part of this monumental day of faith in action, ending with a spectacular Cinco de Mayo Block Party celebration.
